It's never too early to start planning for "WalkFest 2010". A Sunday morning event , April 2010. District 7470 will be holding the event at the Loantanka Brook Reservation in Morris Township. Once again, we need your support. All you have to do is spend one sunny Sunday in the Spring walking in the beautiful Loantanka Brook Reservation. You can also ride your bike, and, if you wish, bring your dog to walk along with you! But you can also benefit from this fundraising activity! If you are a member of a non-profit community group, and are looking to raise cash for a special project in your community, the Walk-A-Thon is the perfect opportunity. After expenses, 50% of the money you raise goes back to your organization. Say you raise $100, your club or group gets $50! We also have great prizes for our walkers... be sure to check us out! *Remember- Be sure to make a copy of your sponsor sheet for your records!!!!* For more information or a pledge sheet, contact Margit Rahill at (973) 361-2810 or visit the Walkfest.info website. To many of us Polio is no longer a threat and many children today are not even aware of the nature of this disease. In waging war on polio, Rotary, has become and indispensable partner to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. A trait Rotary shares with the Gates family is the ability and inclination to think big, come up with audacious goals, and then commit enormous resources to achieving them. Through our work together, we're looking forwar d to the days, when polio - a devastating disease that was once the source of so much fear for the families here in the United States, and that continues to terrorize families - is completely banished from this earth. The Gates Foundation has awarded $ 355 million to Rotary International's polio eradication effort. In response Rotary has committed to raising $ 200 million by June 30, 2012. For additional information or to make a donation please contact Past District Governor Karien Ziegler - Polio Challenge chair at karien@comcast.net or just look for our End Polio Cans at local businesses.
